“Are You Sitting Comfortably?” is an exhibition of iconic chair design held at the Institute of Technology Carlow. Organised by DesignCore Research Centre, the exhibition highlights how we, as consumers, take for granted everyday design. Featuring well-known pieces such as the Eames Lounger and the Barcelona Chair, the exhibition also has more down-to-earth pieces such as the Thonet No.18 and Poly-Prop Chair. The exhibition posters designed by Con Kennedy highlight the chair design’s impact from a historical point of view and illustrate how these iconic designs have impacted popular culture.
