Dublin Canvas

Dublin Canvas is a public art project that brings colour and creativity to everyday objects in the greater Dublin area. In 2023, I participated in this public art project.

An electrical exchange box became available in Blanchardstown, Dublin 15, and my design celebrates the achievements of former Irish professional cyclist Martin Earley, who grew up nearby.

In the mid-1980s, Earley raced for Team Fagor. In 1986, he won stage 14 of the Giro d'Italia and stage 2 at the Tour of the Basque Country. He represented Ireland in two Olympic Games and was the National Road Racing Champion in 1994. The highlight of Earley's racing career was winning stage 8 at the 1989 Tour de France

All four sides of this box were available to paint, which meant a design could be created that wrapped around the box and viewable from any direction. My design features Earley's Giro victory while he raced for Team Fagor and was featured on TG4's 2023 Tour de France coverage.
